A-Fake-1-Kg-Panda-Dated-2003

I am posting this for the educational value. It is a beautiful item in a fancy plastic case.

No one should have been taken in by this if they had it in hand and did a simple test. This item weighs 608 grams, not 1000 grams! Also, it is not silver!

Someone wanted to sell this to my LCS. I forget the back story, but it was apparently a real "steal" for the original purchaser, who just gave the fakes to my LCS.

So, another case where you need to apply some skepticism or at least a scale when purchasing something expensive from an unknown party, where the item cannot be returned.

Remember that all the sellers of fakes need a buyer. If the sales drop maybe the supply of fakes will too.

looks very convincing from just looking at it. Besides weighing it, anything give it away?

I collect pandas and wouldn't buy from sellers without knowing where it came from and have the right tools to authenticate it.

This is actually a very easy one to tell.

This has no denomination. On top of this, it says 1kg but it does not say it's silver. This is what is considered as 'acceptable replica'.

@gxseries, that makes it even more extraordinary that the original purchaser (not me, fortunately) was that careless.
