The lettering on this nickel seems larger and "bubbly" on both sides and more so on the reverse... the outline of the Monticello building also seems to have some doubling... I did the best I can with the close ups and added two pictures at the end of a different 1962-P Nickel to use as comparison... what do we think?

Circulation has affected it a lot. (normal for being out there for over 50 year+) So the coin has been out there for a number of years. (The fields tell this story)

But on nickels the dies wear stronger on the devices. When the die gets worn then the devices distort. You coin may have been struck with a LDS (Late-Die-State) die. This gets worse before they retire the die.

So you may have a coin that is altered by age and devices affected by an aging die. You will find a lot of coins out there that look like this. Probably over 50% of nickels will show this and get worse before retiring the die. Aging is part of the coin making progress.

It's the reverse of the coin that sticks out more.... The details are clearly legible & It really doesn't look "worn" to me on the details just thicker and more pronounced. I know my camera work does it no justice but aside from Light scratches and nicks the coin looks very well struck to me and it's noticeably different than almost all my other Nickels in similar condition from that decade... you very well may be right but maybe once I get a better camera I'll repost with clear close-ups.
