To CCF! Unfortunately, it's just PMD (Post Mint Damage) most likely caused by a Coin Wrapping Machine. It can be also a well placed hit. This doesn't add value to your coin. It's worth a little more over face value since it's a Wheat cent.

This damage comes up quite often here. Usually a digit on the coin is pushed away from the rim and left in a position parallel to the rim. This most likely happened from an old style vending machine, like the penny gum ball machine that used to be in the five and dime stores.

It is damage.

I agree with the diagnosis. A coin-handling machine caused that.
