I was looking around for new banks to get coin rolls from, and when looking on CIBC's website, I found out that they charge 16 cents per roll you take out!
I found this strange because the other banks that I visit don't charge me anything for a roll, even though I don't have an account with them.
Has anyone been to CIBC and not been charged for rolls? I hear that some banks are pretty loose on the rules and won't charge you, while other branches might.

Many banks here charge by the box & then a fee to turn them in, lf not a commercial acct.

I guess that means strike CIBC from your list of banks to do business with...

I guess it depends on the rolls. I'd gladly pay extra for customer rolls.

Just as John77 posted, strike them from your list. I actually maintain a 'Do Nor Patronize' list of retailers. There are any number of reasons for a firm to get on it. Mostly they get off of it by going bankrupt.

RBC doesn't charge anything for rolls. For CIBC, it might be for business accounts. Generally individuals rarely take coin rolls out of the bank. Double check on that. I would call your branch.

Here in the US I have accounts at several banks where their rules say they can charge either $0.08 or $0.15 per roll for ordered coin. Only the $0.08/roll bank actually charges, and only after the first $200 in coin ordered per month. If I order more than $200 from the $0.08/roll bank within one month, I can request no-charge when I pick up the rolls from a teller, and they will not charge me a fee...Odd, I know, but this is how they are currently doing business.

Before I dumped all banks, most charged me for walking through the door, along with fees for whatever else they could come up with. My advice to you would be to find another bank, or better yet, a credit union.

Legally in Canada, they are not allowed to charge you on coin rolls, they can only charge face.

Where can I find that on a Canadian government website or official document? Would you mind sending me a link to where you got that information?
I'm pretty sure that it is legal, or many banks would've been shut down by now. I think it best that you don't pretend to know the law unless you've studied it or have a official documentation to prove a law exists. False information isn't always taken lightly, and it's also not appreciated when people pretend to know things they don't.

My credit union will not accept rolled coins after the search. But there's no charge to dump them in coin counting machine that automatically puts it in your savings account. Then you just with draw the rolls you want and start over. and there is no extra charge for rolls.
Yes I'm the quarter guy... again.
