The first true RAM bimetallics were the 1991 test tokens.

The mint had bought a Versom press which could produce bimetallics. 10,000 Krupps bimetallic blanks were run through the machine to test and calibrate it. 9,000 with the Welcome to Canberra dies and 1,000 with the An Era of Coins - Medals dies.
