I recently won this for $3 in a Proxibid auction and for the life of me can't figure out which letter of the alphabet it exhibits. I'm torn between a J, F, H, or a G, but then again, it could be a Y, lol. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You believe it is "PJF".... As in Patty Jane Fourtenberry. (Or something like that!)

Could it be "IJ", which is a letter in the Dutch language?

@westernsky- Am I supposed to know who Patty Jane Fortenberry is?
I believe it to be just a single letter, but which one?

In retrospect, I'm in the "H" camp as well. Search Google images for "h old calligraphy".

Looks like a H to me too. Nice piece you have, I'd be happy with that for $3!

I will join the H crowd. The second picture resembles a lower case Gothic calligraphy H

I suggested this (above) in the first place because, as an antique dealer, I have seen this character often on everything from jewelry to sterling flatware.

Thanks guys, I took your advice and googled examples of old English H monograms and that is definitely what it exhibits, a lower case Old English H.
It would make an amazing gift for someone, if I only knew a relative or a female friend that had a first or last name that started with the letter H....,,, oh well, I'm sure I can turn a small profit for it on the Bay. Once again thanks for all the input!
