Hello Yall! My first post!

I am wondering what grade and value this coin would get, in today's market. It is a Yunghi 2nd year Half Won, struck in 80 fine silver. Struck in 1908, during the Japanese protectorate era. I am sure of its authenticity. I know that coins struck during the Korean Protectorate era is scarce, and some command a very high price (Russian eagle coins).

Thank you everyone!

Anthony

It's a nice example! A recent sale with similar condition was sold for around 200 dollars.

Bought this more than 5 years ago. My photography skills weren't as great. Will have to find it and retake all the photos. I'm certain it has been cleaned before.

Current prices here in Korea for this coin in XF condition are ~$200 ungraded and ~$325 graded AU. Current this coin at MS63 is selling for ~1.6M won ($1,500). Last year, one of these graded AU 58 sold for $225 (I bought this) and the auction before that an AU55 sold for $188.

If I had to grade this, I'd say its in that range of VF-XF. It doesn't have the luster to make it on the higher end, but I'd say you got a good coin.

Finally, I would never be 100% sure on these unless you get a true Korean coin dealer to check it out or you sent it in to get grade. I'm sure you know that there are so many perfect fakes of these.

How much does it weigh?

@Lembafc.
I am new to this forum, I wanted to send a pm about a 1901 half won (german eagle) to you since you seem to be an expert.

@jd, first welcome to CCF. Second, please start a new thread and include pics of your coin. I'm sure that you will get @lembafc's feedback but also the thoughts of others. Thx.
