Rim finning is what it's called. Comes from over pressure strikes causes more material outward to the collar, then up. These are fins that have been smashed down over time(rolls).

That may be it...I was just looking at my LMC reference book and the DDO-004 (exceedingly rare) has the same rim as the "odd rim" pictures I posted.
About half the roll has this rim issue like DDO-004...one could hope!

Takin a closer look at the "L" (fingers crossed)!

But the 1972 DDO-004 isn't a master doubled coin. Yours is.

The rim Cud is in a different area on the rim, so the marker means nothing on your coin. Match the doubling first, markers last for die state.
