Someone once said, "I grew up in Iowa and I was 17 before I learned I was free to leave."

In Iowa, 1-2 inches of snow can look like this. The land there is so flat, that all the snow piles up next to something blocking the wind. Piles way up there. Usually across where you want to go. It flows over fences, cars, slow moving animals and people. Where I lived, East-West roads were always blocked. North-South roads were usually passable. (but wind doesn't always go in the same direction though) Snow like this would usually last all winter. You just keep piling it higher and the next storm would will it in again But the neat thing about driving in snow, you tires were always clean. (well until spring till the frost goes out of the ground)

I lived in Robins Iowa for 3 years, never knew there were frost boils, ice dams, wind rows and tow bans for cars...

I never owned a snow blower before and the one I bought should be illegal in the state of Iowa; obviously a fraud trap for non-native Iowans.

The people were great but you can keep the weather...

Couldn't wait to get back my state...my snow removal is assigned to the water dept...I asked how many snow plows they have...they said none; I guess they carry hot water? True Story. LOL!
