This is apparently the 1798 8 over 7 overdate large cent which I was able to attribute as Sheldon-152. Thanks Germanicvs for the help. Sheldon has it listed as Rarity 3. Please chime in if you disagree with my attribution.

Picked it up for $103. Your thoughts on grade and problems are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It look like S-152.
On S-151 the '8' touches the bust. C.Q.R call S-152 Rarity-2.

Thanks Germanicvs. I looked at examples of the three varieties of the 1798 overdate: S-150, S-151 and S-152. I think that the easiest way to attribute a rough reverse is with where the left stem is pointing on the you of UNITED.

S-150: left stem points to middle of U.
S-151: left stem points to right side of U.
S-152: left stem points to left side of U.

This does indeed seem to match S-152 which has a left stem that points to the left side of U.

Great information. Sheldon's original work had it listed as R3 but may have been updated to R2 over the years by Copper Quotes by Robinson (CQR).
