Posting a group of early S mint wheat cents. Not the prettiest bunch...Wanted to see what others thought of them. If they get to VF, with the different problems each have. Thanks.

Not a very pretty coin to look at, but it is a strong strike. Is that a finger print on the reverse right field? Could stand a careful cleaning. I say its a 40.

Yeah, finger print on the reverse. Spot of carbon or verdigris as well. Don't have the nerve to try and do anything to it though honestly.

It's real grade, not market is AU55/8. Close die spacing, early late die stage ( note the uneven wear in the wheat) with typical "mushy" details. Very light wear on the two sides of the lapels. For these reasons I am saying that the ACTUAL wear on it makes it AU.
Market grading where "the book" is the only source is VF.
