I'm a graduate student in Colorado studying history, and I use coinage as one of my methodologies. I've also collecting for several years, primarily Byzantine bronzes, but more recently I've branched out into 18th and 19th century French coins. I think what appeals to me about France is the political chaos of the period from the 1780s-1900. From monarchy to revolution to empire to monarchy all in a few years--it's fascinating.
