I will have to break them out tomorrow. But if I had to guess it would have to be anything rhode island or there abouts. I made a post about these notes a while back doing my best to describe them. I REALLY need to get a good digital camera.

ok, after looking at them....They kind of look similiar to all of those on ebay, for the exception of those with any color. These are brown paper with black ink...be it within the design or writing. They are (4 pieces) from the late 1700s. 2,3,4 pence pieces and one that says "one penny"

Authenticating colonial currency is tough, so please take care in making your determination. There are a few "counterfeits" just on the link you provided.
Depending on the "issue" some colonial currency can be quite affordable ($20 - $75) in grades of VG through AU

How would one go about getting these notes authenticated?

Good reference material is a must. If time permits, you could have a dealer view the note. Don C. Kelly is a great dealer for paper money, you can check out his site http://www.donckelly.com

His reply.. "Compare yours with mine... The most prevalent reproductions come on a stiff yellowish paper made to resemble parchment. I can't be of further help. http://www.donckelly.com/colonial/colonial.html "

With notes, you can scan them just as easily. Also, my schedule is a bit tough over the next few weeks, but you can always drop me an email with the pics, and I will help.

Hey wrk, we can understand the whole Wal-mart thing. Matter of fact, we picked a NICE Lexmark X5250. It's a printer/copier/scanner, comes with it's own software, and is a GREAT bargain!!! The ink cartriges run about $20 each (for black or color). We've taken some nice scans with it. P.S.- They also have a newer model that has the bridgeport USB connections for the same price. If you have a Brandsmart nearby, they might be a little cheaper in cost for the same quality.
