My fiance recently inherited this coin, and we both lack any sort of knowledge on coins and their values. He sent it into some free online service which gave it an Extremely Fine rating, so I was wondering how accurate that rating was, and what that means for the collector value of the coin. Thanks! you will need to show both sides of the coin to get an opinion. BTW that is a nice coin to inherit!

First off, the date of the pictured coin is 1916, not 1910. Secondly, the coin is a heck of a lot better than extra fine. It looks at least almost uncirculated, maybe a lot better. A picture of the backside (reverse) would be a big help. Nice inheritance!

My mistake. I thought I uploaded one from the back as well. Edit: Apparently I'm all over the place today. Updated the forum title with the correct date. Here we go:

Pics just aren't sharp enough (or the reverse pic large enough) to judge the grade accurately. to the CCF!

As always, do not clean this coin or attempt to make it look better! It is very nice as is! Cleaning or attempting to make it look better will not have a good outcome dollar wise!
Looks like a nice low to mid MS 1916-S.
ALL $10 Indians are suspect to counterfeiting. Been that way a long time.
I'd suggest a reasonably priced "quick and dirty" 3rd party grading to ANACS to get an idea of grade and a determination as to authenticity. If everything checks out you can submit to PCGS or NGC for a crossover if the value warrants it.
Good luck and thanks for sharing!

Great advice. Try ANACS for submission.
Looks a lot nicer than an extra fine.

westernsky has a good approach re ANACS PCGS NGC, potential value justifies it.
In this case it would have been better to photograph it out of the 2x2. My opinion would have been more accurate. With these pictures, I think somewhere between MS61 to MS64. It must be remembered that a TPGrader will examine it in hand, raw, with a 10X loupe.

with Westernsky. Send it to ANACS, who will put in a slab and authenticate/grade it. DO NOT clean it. Which free online service told you Extremely Fine? That coin is probably Uncirculated, or at least About Uncirculated. Nowhere near XF.

Still don't feel these pics are adequate for grading. Fields are soft, and there appears to be wear on the top of the eagle's leading wing. No-grade for me.
