Wondering-If-I-Have-A-1882-Morgan-With-Chop-Marks.

inherited this coin and my research suggest it is rare for a Morgan to have a chop mark. I think I have one. Wondering if I can get opinions from the attached pics. Thanks.

It is rare for a Morgan to have a GENUINE, CONTEMPORANEOUS chop mark - they saw limited circulation in Asia. It's also often faked, either on a fake Morgan to make it seem legit or a faked chopmark on a genuine lower grade coin...

Graffiti. Not worth any extra; in fact, it lowers the value of the coin significantly.

I had such great hopes!

Unfortunately it's graffiti and the coin is essentially devalued to melt unless its a CC mint.

Chopmarks on Morgans are rare as they are smaller than the 8R/Crown/trade dollars that were the standard for intl trade back then. Merchants didn't tend to want/bother with them since they were worth less than standard.

Yup - the dreaded graffiti (or why little boys should not be allowed pocket knives).
