Ok so is this a good camera? If so, if you use this camera and it works can you tell me what lens and set up and maybe possibly share pictures taken with it. Or if you have used it maybe share it's down falls and negatives please and thanks for the help.

What do you intend to do with it?

The butt end of a screwdriver makes an OK hammer for the occasional nail while hanging pictures, but I wouldn't recommend it as a long term high volume solution...

From the Nikon site, the D60 is an older, 10MP camera. Certainly adequate for coin pictures. Uses the Nikon F mount, so there are lots of choices for lenses.

What lens? Nikon has some lovely macro lenses which will run you 10x the $150-200 cost of the camera. And some less pricey options.

New or Used?

I'd HIGHLY recommend getting a Canon Rebel XS instead. Will probably cost you about the same amount (maybe less) and still has 10MP but it has several features that make it superior to the D60 for coins:

- Live View (D60 does not have Live View so you have to look through the viewfinder)
- Free tethering software to control camera, view coin live on screen, download images automatically
- Electronic shutter to improve sharpness of higher mag error images
- Ability to shoot in Aperture priority for manual lenses (D60 can only shoot in Manual mode with manual lenses)

I have and LOVE a Canon T3 (the macro lens is simply awesome).

However, there is free, open source software that will give you live view on the D60 and many other cameras.
