KM #4, 0.7859 oz silver, minted in Guatemala City. Krause lists the values at F-$40 VF-$75 XF-$200, but I think they undervalue it. I believe that libre cresca fecundo roughly means grow free and fertile.

That appears to be a very nice example. How much detail is left on the tree? Is there any way to turn off the flash and back-light for a better picture?

sorry this is the best I can do I dont have the greatest camera and I'm not a great picture taker there is no dings or marks on the coin and the only parts of the tree that have wear are the bottom left corner witch is nearly smooth and the bottom right witch has very minimal wear my grandfather has it graded as fine but I dont know how good his grading skills are. what do you think the value is if you think it is undervalued thanks for your help

I can't grade your coin from the pics, but here is an auction for a similar coin from Heritage:

Follow the auction. They estimate $350 on the low side for the same date in XF. I've been looking to buy one of these for quite some time. I just haven't been willing to shell out the cash for it.

In case it's not clear from the previous postings, the answer is yes, at the time this coin was struck, Central America, meaning all the countries currently between Mexico and Panama (excluding the British colony of Belize), were politically united into one country, the Central American Republic, and it is under that name these coins are listed in the Krause catalogue.

Founded in 1823 after the collapse of the First Mexican Empire, it never really existed in the hearts and minds of most of it's people, and was formally abolished in 1841, by which time all but one of the member states had seceded.
