jfransch Pillar of the Community United States 1801 Posts	Posted 05/22/2008 11:03 pm Coin is a "cob" (early New World spanish production) but the pictures are not good enough to tell you anything else. Can you photograph them in higher resolution and out of the 2 x 2. Not making any call on your coin, these are quite often fake. What does the coin weigh? Report this Post to the Staff

swamperbob Pillar of the Community United States 5362 Posts	Posted 05/23/2008 8:09 pm Hi Scott - the second scan - the one of the shield side has an orange or gold colored circle around the trace of what appears to be a pin near the center. Looks like it was a tie tack at one time. There were many jewelry cob copies that were used for cuff links and tie tacks. Some real coins in lower grades too, but many were cast copies.
