We recently had an influx of a number of Aussies, and want to be Aussies, (who can blame them)
We would like each of you to introduce your selves and tell the group something about yourselves, collections - favourite coins etc.
The forum already know Aussies are not bashful they have been dealing with Lim and myself;
How about it maybe Redbaron or Bluesfil or one of you other rascals would like to chime in: The forum is all yours--- rggoodie aka Richard "catch em doing something right"

What can I say, I look like Mel Gibson, am as tough as Russell Crowe, and play Golf like Greg Norman!Oops, I just woke up from a wonderful Dream!!!!!!!!!! But seriously, I have been collecting Coins since I was a young lad way back in 1964! Started out like most kids do collecting anything and everything that looked like a Coin. After running out of money to buy Coins on a regular basis I decided that it might be more prudent to concentrate on Aussie Issues, and again I collected everything and anything coming out of an Australian Mint, everything from Monster 10oz Kookaburras Coins to Cook Island Coins pretending to be Australian Currency! After running out of money again I decided it best to just concentrate on Royal Australian Mint Issues, and only those Issues that had some connection to circulating Currency, so now it's mainly Mint Mark Dollars, Proof Sets, Mint Sets, RAM Wedding Sets (only way to get GEM Uncirculated Coins),and RAM Baby Sets, although I do have a soft spot for US Silver Dollars from the late 1800's. Oh and my favorite drink is Wild Turkey!

Well here goes - G'day all. My name is Paul and I live in Queanbeyan. 7km from Australia's Capital city, Canberra. I have been collecting coins for many years. I used to collect any unusual coins that came my way, my favourites were the U.S coins. I just love the state quaters, silver eagles and your notes....how the hell do you tell your notes apart? They are all the same colour. That's another thing I gotta get, 1 of each of your notes. That reminds me of a question I would like answered. Where is the best place to get a nice crisp uncirculated US note. 1 of each denomination? Anyways back to the yarn, I was also collecting NCLT from the R.A.M and Perth Mint untill recently, they are turning out way to much and I can't keep up with it. So I have changed my collecting habits to the Proof and Uncirculated year sets. And also the yearly mintmark $1. We are all waiting with anticipation for the release of the 2006 $1 on January 1. The dealers here know what the theme will be but are bound by some sort of embargo and can't tell anyone so that leaves it up to the rest of us to try to find out and tell everyone else. So if any of you happen to know - let the rest of us know. Well that about covers me. I'll hand the floor over to someone else. Thanks Paul PS - I have made numerous efforts to visit the US but unsuccessful so far. Hope I get there soon. I feel I was born on the wrong continent. I hate football but like Gridiron, hate cricket and love baseball etc etc...see what I mean....

G'day Shinzon As a former Canberran welcome to the forum. Thankx for posting. I think our bodies were swapped at birth. I don't care for gridiron or baseball. I follow footy and most other Aussie sports. Better for you I am an Expat in the USA. I can help you out with the Unc US banknotes (which denomations are you interested in US $ 1,2,5,10, 20,50, 100) previously there was also a US $ 500, 1,000, 5,000, 10,000, 100,000 banknote (don't know that you have that kind of cash to spend)- and the quarters, I have already sent a few down under- what are you looking for and what grade?. I will email you. I need more coins from home and we can work out some kind of swap if you are interested. with you being locatd so close to the mint and some reasonable dealers in the ACT, who know where that could lead our little band over here in the US

hello my name is anthony I live in perth western australia (the most isolated capitol city in the world and the slowest and most laid back )i obviously love collecting PNC s and all decimal coins up to the denomination of $2.00 I also collect banknotes but I have resticed my self to the issues in folders only and I have a few predecimals that I am slowly building up again after selling an almost complete set (minus only the 1930 penny )14 years ago to help fund the purchase of a house (the wife thought a house was more important than my coins )i love aussie coins but I am fearful for its future as it does not seem the younger generation is taking to numismatics as a hobby

Some people here already know me...lim...RG. Shinzon actually used to work for my dad before the move to Canberra (when are you going to visit Newcastle again?). He needs to do more service station work to get to the USA (lol).
Anyway...I collect Aussie circulation coins in unc condition...I am building a very nice predecimal set and at the moment I am building an uncirculated euro collection. I run a small coin shop in Newcastle (160km North of Sydney). This business was a result of a hobby gone mad.
I feel happy I was invited to this place and I am glad some familar names from the Aussie forum have made it here as well (that is you Shinzon...RB...PNC_King).

Hi All,
I think it is now my turn.
My name is Lars, I am a German living in the very hot Brisbane. I love collecting coins and banknotes that have historical value.
I keep to collecting only: Australian Decimal and Pre-Decimal coins, also German coins and Banknotes from all eras.
I used to run a business buying and selling coins and banknotes but I lost my passion for the hobby and became money orientated. So I gave it up and my love for the hobby has been re-born.
So I don't bore you all I will leave some of the other information to other posts.
Thanks and a happy new year. Lars

I am a Hungarian living also in Brisbane. Started to collect and investing in coins since the metal prices confirmed the bull market. If I see a nice coin I will buy it, but basically looking for the value in precious metal coins. If I can sell it easily, I will buy it.
By the way I just missed out my very first big deal today, manly because my dealer couldn't handle alone the 400.000-dollar deal, but he didn't want to involve me because,.... who knows why...he may be feared he could be cut out completely. We know each other only for a few weeks, but I'm still disappointed.

Very interesting thread!
I hope the Aussies who have posted will enjoy Coin Community. I have found it very helpful and entertaining. Forum members are friendly, and with time, seem almost to become like family.
I'm a retired teacher, and through an exchange program our school obtained an Australian teacher for two years. We liked him so much, we jokingly suggested that the exchange be permanent, with Australia keeping the teacher we sent, and our school keeping the Aussie. He was great, and we missed him when he went home.
Welcome to the forum!!!!

Hi my name is Kegan and I live in Townsville (its south of Cairns). I have not been keeping an active collection, most of which was given to me ten years ago but I'm thinking of start collecting again. My collection consists mainly of pre-decimal coins, with a few british and pre-euro coins, and Australian coins of 1985 in a plastic case from the RAM.

Welcome Kegan Glad to have you here, we hope you will be an active participant both asking questions and sharing information. Is you predecimal collection mostly copper or silver or are you the bloke with all the predecimal holey dollars?
