I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of our Australian members. There are now more than 30 members from OZ! You folks have made the forum a better place to be. We share many common elements to our histories and Australian coinage, by and large is much more artistic than modern American coins. Thanks for opening up your part of the world to this forum and the hobby as well! Mike

I think this thread is fantastic, so I thought I would re-fresh it.

Do we have any more Aussie members amongst us?

If so please tell us about yourself.

I live in Sydney by the beach and I love collecting all Australian Decimals, particularly copper coins and paper notes in UNC and PNC's as well.

While my interest is Australian pre-decimal coins, I find there's enjoyment galore in historical aspect by itself and can't get enough!

Hi ... Won't say g'day - too vegemite-y, don'cha think?

Anyhow -
My addiction began a brief time back when I was fortunate to be given a swag of stuff, from an unlikely source. My current collection is comprehensive but, save for several exceptions, most coins are fairly well circulated. That said, not too many dates in any one denomination I actually don't have.

My goal long term is to gradually upgrade, with a view to one day pass down an even better collection. After all, even though we hold ownership for a while with deserved pride, reality says we are just short-time custodians - as with everything in life, I guess.

PS Am from Adelaide, so entitled to be philosophical(?)

PPS And hold on there, Anthony ... if you think you're slow in WA, then you sure have never been to good old Queensland, boy!

Cheers ..!

Hi there,
I keep coming across the same people ala over the internet (I wounder if there are only 50 or so people on the internet?).
First on the RAM forum then when that was shut down "for maintaince" Idlely Googling I came across a fair number of RAM forum refugees at the Australian Coins, Tokens and Banknotes Forum. Again with the Googling I find the same people here.
Generally I am a lurker with only the occasional post to ask a question or jump on the dack of a deal.
On the whole I collect decimals and other shiny things that take my fancy like the very occasional sovereign.
It seem nice and civilised here, no clashing egos which is nice and friendly banter makes you feel right a home straight away.
Cheers
Ken (Sydney)

Monco we are too busy trying to change the world and the coin collecting community to clash! We don't have time for ego problems either as we have all entered the first years of the Coin Revolution and the Coin Crusades (whatever that is)! Sounds good, keeps us off the street and out of trouble! Also great for your collection! The world has gotten smaller, thanks to the internet, and many U.S. collectors are finally turning to Darkside coins and the beauty and history circulating just beyond our borders! The door to world history has been thrown open and there is a HUGE eagerness to share knowledge, coins and friendship like I have never seen before! For the most part, perhaps, the coin collecting community is FED UP with the status quo and has decided to throw out the hate, prejudice and fear that the world seems to constantly churn out! No politics, government or religion here!!! Just bring on the coins and all are WELCOME!!! This place is like finding a SAFE harbor to dock your ship in! And, all are welcome!
