Hello Everyone!

Here is my most latest aquisition. A first year issue silver yang minted during the 501st year of the Joeson Dynasty which is 1892 Gregorian. There are 4 yang coins, with the 1898 Yang to be the scarcest. In particular, the wide spaced yang of 1898.

My coin was minted at the Inchon Mint (thanks gxseries) and features a lovely looking twin dragons. The reserve is simple, with a wreath with the emblem of the Korean empire.

These 1 Yang coins are quite scarce like most Korean empire coins. Really nice condition too!

Thank you!
Anthony

I own a few examples of this. 1898 1 yang is home to three varieties not two. All the catalog books that I have only have two varieties - the narrow and wide yang. I have two types of the narrow yang which are large and small characters. I do not know which is the scarcest out of all of them.

I personally found the 1893 1 yang harder to find compared to 1892 yang. Some varieties of 1898 yang are indeed hard to find. If I recall correctly, 1892 coinages only commenced in late 1892 - perhaps around December. Despite the dates 1892 and 1893, these coins were only issued in 1894. As of the reason why, I cannot recall.

Here's one of my examples

The rarest is actually 1892 1 yang in proof condition.
