relooking my bronze greek coins , I found a 2 anomalies on a coin that I bought a few years ago .
It is an AE 37 - 45.95 gr coin of Ptolemy IV Philopator (221-204 ), struck at Alexandria .

The problem is in the legend on the reverse : normaly the title is PTOLEMAIOU BASILEWS , ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ , I read :

Ptolemaios-IV-Ae-Coin-With-Errors-In-The-Legend

PTEMAIOY ΠΤΕΜΑΙΟΥ
and

BASILEWS ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ
with a very strong lengthened epsilon .
Errors in legends are not exceptional , but two in one coin is much . albert

IMO the reverse details look like they have been tooled. Probably the reverse was worn or had a weak strike and someone tried to enhance it.

Certainly odd looking Albert
The letters almost look like the die has been reworked.
Is there an undertype or has the flan been reworked ( note the area between the eagles neck & cornucopiae ) also below the bust on Obverse.
Very odd indeed, hopefully Ron will be along soon with his thoughts
LOL, Rons already here

First , I was also thinking this , but by comparing with similar coins of Ptolemy V , the coin looks normal to me . Not normal is the space between the upsilon and the head of the eagle : just space for 2 letters :ΟΛ .
Also the form of the epsilon is not normal for a retooled letter .See here for similar coin . albert

Hotlinking does not work, link removed.

I agree the lettering doesn't look right, which could be from tooling on the coin or a rework worn die. Error are common, so it just might be as you say.
