I'm new to collecting British coins. What coins should go in the holes for Type I, II, Type I 1952, and Type II starting at 1954. Should I use the date and pop them in or are there varieties I need to find?

Yes you can go by year for these. As stated in the coin holder, the Type II George VI has no IND IMP and the type 2 EII has no BRITT OMN in the obverse legends.
And by the way, you have a Victoria in the George VI section!

Thanks, I got the album with those coins from ebay. I plan on moving that one into a separate holder. 3 older coins were in the album.

What does IND. IMP and BRTT OMN stand for? Is that a national phrase or motto?

The legend describes the titles of the sovereign. IND IMP is short for Indiae Imperator, or Emperor of India.
BRITT OMN is short for Britanniarum Omnium, meaning 'of all the Britains'.

The Ind Imp was dropped upon the independence of India, and the Britt Omn was dropped in recognition that some Commonwealth countries had become republics.
