I've seen plenty of discolored pennies, but this one seems a Lil off to me! Was thinking like and old worn down proof or something else! But its prob just me, lol! Thanks!

Discoloration due to staining or, less likely, a toning spot.

Read about how coins are and were minted and you'll know that the only possible reason for a spot like this would be an unmixed metal spot in the planchet. But yours isn't that.

Well I found it in my grandmothers old #128055; bank from when my grandpa built the house in the late 30s and 95% were wheats. She let me go through it while I'm in town visiting! The highest Lincoln Memorial penny in there was few 1961s, so its been untouched for decades! This one just caught my I first,so I thought I'd ask! And I'm doing research now about how staining or discoloration works! Thank you!

I would think this would be normal. The wheat cents sometimes develop tiger stripes.
