I found this Siliqua a few years back, I am struggling to identify it as there are slight differences in every other Siliqua I have seen. Can anyone identify this coin?

@evil1, first welcome to CCF. Second, rather than reincarnating an old thread, best practice is to start your own. Certainly, tacking your pics onto a thread of Siliquae does make some sense though. I'll see what the mods would like to do. Hopefully, we can help you with an attribution.

Thanks for the reply Spence, I didn't really want to start a new thread considering there was one already in place for the subject at hand, I was however torn between doing so and resurrecting a 6 year old thread :-). I will leave the decision in the hands of the Mods.

Thanks for the welcome all. Pretty difficult to tell what that letter is, not sure if the close up helps.

I don't think is another letter just an encrustacian or a bit of debris when the coin was hit. I think if it was another letter the V and 'it' would be more symetrical ie either side of centre line and not offset to the right... This is only my opinion and I'm no expert maybe one of the pros will pipe in soon? You have the coin in hand whats your thoughts? Paul

to the community The coin appears to have been clipped and the legend removed. IMO the bust looks like Valens and the placement of the remains of the legend seems right.

The coin is clipped as Echizento said .Is it possible to read some letters of the obverse ?It must be possible to identify by comparing the hairstyle , but it is a lot of work . albert

I would also note that the "tassels" on the head band do not match any other Siliqua I have come across. I am no expert, just pointing it out.
