Sorry I didn't respond to your email, it has been a busy weekend. We are landscaping our yard, and it's taking way too long. It does appear to be a nice coin, but I would hold off on grading until I could see the full obverse and reverse pics. Your closeups are great however, and I'm sure you have found the correct VAM, I haven't checked it personally, but you are getting pretty good at finding them yourself. I'll check it out later when I have some more time. Nice coin, looks like you got a good buy.

*I hear ya!- just got done myself today mowing, cleaning the deck furniture etc for tomorrow. Have a Great Memeorial Day to all! I spotted the horizonal line below the crossbar of the number one, matched it up with that VAM and decided to go for it. Even with a grade of MS60- I'd be ahead of the game based on what I paid for the coin. *I like amac44's grade- DONE! MS63 it is :)

amac44:
Thanks for the MS63 grade, but in looking at this coin up close under 15X and 20X - I'm going to grade this a MS60- it has way too many noticeable surface marks, according to the RED-BOOK on grading Morgan's, to be a MS63.

I checked out the VAMworld site, It sure looks like the VAM 4 to me nice find. I would say your coin is probably in the MS 60-63 range. Nice coin!

At 20x, every little tiny imperfection will be magnified so much that it makes the coin look like it went through trench warfare

Thanks for the grading info-
I guess I better get an in-between loupe- I have a 5X and then I go to 15X and 20X from an old microscope I had as a kid, for closer pics etc. Better pick up a 10x- :)
