Very simple, If you're sure, fork out the dough and send it to PCGS for certification....

https://www.PCGS.com/onlinesubmission/

It'll cost you $300 plus 1% of the value of the coin. Small price to pay for a million dollar coin right?

Be sure to post images of the slab and links to the TV coverage when you get it back.

one story that made me start to really think was when I read about George O Walton's coin and the car crash

Quote:
or that it is the coin that was in Walton's car

The Walton Specimen was re-discovered by the family in 2003, it was not actually lost in the crash that killed George Walton. The coin was on display at the ANA Museum for several years before the family auctioned it in 2013 for $3.17 million.

Oh boy, here we go again. I recently saw several threads like this for an 1894-S dime.....no one ever responded with links to the news reports.

All 5 specimens have been accounted for, including the Walton specimen, which was auctioned in 2003.

Your coin looks like a very worn 1910 nickel.

Don't listen them. Everyone says my entire roll of those 1913 Liberty Head Nickels is not real. Yet they are being sold on ebay all the time. I keep all mine with all my 1894S Liberty Head Dimes. I have rolls of those too.
Just kidding but I do have lots of 1916D Mercury dimes that I got a flea market from a really honest looking guy.

You are playing a losing game if you believe in any way that mangled Liberty nickel can be somehow be confirmed and certified as the 6th ever known 1913 dated example.

If you need the confirmation for yourself ... submit it to PCGS using the link Bobby provided above ... then you will know for sure when the details, upgradable and authenticity unverifiable grade opinion comes back.

As a couple of others here have already said, your coin appears to be an altered 1910 V nickel.

I'm with paralyse. It looks like an extremely poor condition 1912.

Well, how do we know that only five were ever made? There were no official mint records, since it was a coin made on the sly.

I have an old Red Book that in fact lists the 1913 mintage as not five but six.
