My Dads 1773 Virginia Halfpenny No Period-Help

bookermg New Member United States 31 Posts	Posted 01/30/2018 4:07 pm If you have been following along at home.this is my continuing saga of going through my dads colonials. I have gone through most of the Connecticuts and am on Virginia. This is the first of three and I can't figure this one out. I don't have a book with the Newman die Varieties. It is a 1773 no period. It appears to possibly have 8 strings.6 with 2 worn? From what I understand there were only 6 Obv/Rev combinations with 8 strings. I found examples of 5 of them and this didn't appear to match up. The one I couldn't find an example of to compare is the 16-U. Keep in mind I am not an expert and could have my facts completely wrong. Any and all help is appreciated. I picked one of these up for resale recently. That is an amazing example that needs to be sent into a TPG. The no period variety is far less common will add to the value by up to 25%. Unbelievable!
