I am looking for information on 1963-DDR-004 (FS-801). It crossref's to 1963-WDDR-006. Although I do have a couple Washington doubled dies and Type B reverses, my knowledge of values of Washington varieties is very limited. I am much more comfortable with Lincoln varieties. While looking at PCGS Coinfacts, I couldn't help but notice the suggested value and rarity of this variety. I have extensively searched for a past sale and can't find any. PCGS has certified a total of 9: http://www.PCGScoinfacts.com/Coin/Detail/408341NGC has certified only 7: https://www.NGCcoin.com/coin-variet...vp-004-5892/ANACS doesn't have any certified: http://www.anacs.com/Populations/PopReport.aspxI have one of these headed my way. The coin is raw and uncirculated, and I am just trying to make a decision as to whether this variety should reside in plastic or not. Any info from avid Washington variety collectors is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks all!

PCGS has images. They are in the link. No close ups of the doubling but you can zoom in and see it on the C of America easy enough.
I'm mainly looking for basic info like: Is is really that rare or do quite a few Washington collectors have the variety, just not certified. I'm trying to understand why the PCGS suggested values are so high. I'm not lucky enough to pick a $300 - $600 variety for 1% of the value, lol.

Thanks Chuckster! That does reaffirm the rarity and value. I'm surprised. Based on the number of certified by both NGC & PCGS, it has bumped up to URS 5, but still a rare variety. I'll post detailed images when it gets here. Probably be 3 or 4 days. In the meantime I'll put up an image of the full reverse shot. It's how I picked it.

The price seems high for so little hub doubling to me.

Keep in mind, this info is from 2012.
I have no idea if it has gone higher or lower since then. ?

PCGS has it higher but no completed sales so what is it based on? It isn't worth close to that much to me but Washington varieties aren't my love.

If it's 61 or better, it's worth NGC or PCGS certification. It is not a common variety, but it's one that's very hard to spot.

@coop That was my thoughts also. I was astonished! That's why I went looking for a completed sale. It's crazy. Value doesn't normally matter to me because I collect, not sale. It isn't a Lincoln so I might have to flip this cat...or try to anyway. Here is the image I picked it by. In the cropped image I have highlighted the doubling with red arrows. The green arrows point to some of the die gouges you can see on Wexler's images. It is listed as WDDR-006 here: http://doubleddie.com/1370540.html
