Just a heads up, they're out there:

Counterfeit 1852 one penny,

Dead giveaways are the over exaggerated features and no finely cut lines. Everything looks "soft", almost cartoonish.
Date lettering too thick.
The beaver has no definition whatsoever,
Wrinkles in Habitant's coat are way overdone.
And Justice looks, shall we say, very 'cold'

Not great a great copy, but might fool new collectors.

I have some very good copies of 19th century an Australian token, that were produced over 150 years later, by the same business that produced the originals.

This post illustrates the importance of knowing the characteristics of the genuine.

I suspect this is a modern 'take-off' intended to dupe the unknowing.

Thanks for the post.

MM, you would think if the effort was put into the 1850 they would have made it the dot variety to sell for a higher price

I have seen that same 1850 One Penny for sale on ebay.
Luckily enough it was caught and reported by one of our members.
Here again it is not a good copy and easy enough to tell from a genuine coin.

Experience tells me that 99% of the counterfeits are NOT MADE to fool a knowledgeable coin collector. They are made as cheap replicas/novelty items. The loonie/twoonie fakes also are not that good and a casual glance will pick them out. That said there are some that fool even ICCS (chortle). The 1921 5 cents of 1968/9 and the 6 recent ones are examples of the good ones. MM
