G'day all,

Looking through my collections, found three pennies (1933, 1955, 1962) a florin (1947) and a stack of threepences.

I don't suppose any of these are of any notable significance?

Cheers

G'day RGL158, welcome to the forum. The coins you mention are common dates, to be worth any more than a dollar or two they need to be in better than average condition.

What dates are the threepences? Even worn early date threepences can be worth a few dollars.

Have a close look at the 1933 penny. There is a 1933/32 ovedate, see this site for more info:

Ok so heres the lowdown.. dont have the threepences with me here, but the 1933 penny appears to have that 33/32 overdate and it is in excellenct condition.

what I have also found on top of the other coins I mentioned are:
a few round 50cents
a few old crowns
a few 1965 crowns with winston churchill on the reverse

..and a sliver american dollar (not really for this forum but thought i'd ask anyway)

Cheers!

A good condition overdate penny can be worth a bit. $150 in Vf, up to $2100 uncirculated.

The round 50c was only minted in 1966 and is 80% silver, 3 coins to the ounce.

What year are the crowns? 1937 is the more common of the two. 1938 is a valuable coin, comparatively.

The 1965 crowns are English, so can't help you there.

You can buy or borrow Greg McDonald's "Australia Coins and Banknotes", which is the Australian version of the Red Book. It has all the important information you need to value your coins.
