Sorry @poin, but from your pic I can't see enough of what you are describing. While these coins come off the presses red, in general, the copper quickly tones to a brown color. They can be chemically treated to strip off the toning, which might be what happened to your coin. That is my best guess for what has happened to your coin.

Looks like a circulated coin. Only mint state coins are considered, Red, Red brown or brown. Here is a list of Acronyms used in Coin Collecting
