Quick Fact: The carving of Mount Rushmore took just over 14 years to complete. It was started by Gutzon Borglum (of Stone Mountain Memorial fame) in October 1927 and was completed by his son Lincoln on October 31, 1941. Unfortunately, Gutzon did not live to see the memorial fully completed; he died seven months earlier on March 6, 1941. Collecting history one coin or medal at a time! (c) commems.
