To CCF! Yes, a Die Crack and Machine Doubling on the devices. You can see how the devices are reduced and shelf-like.

You're welcome! I would hold on to them because they're nice examples of Die Cracks.

Rest in Peace

Die cracks are common machining problems, just think if you have multiples, how many are there? More there is of an error, less it is worth. The "doubling" is Plating disturbances and Die Deterioration, all results of the quality coins made in our US Mints...In computer terms, GIGO, garbage in, garbage out. From planchet to pocket the cents and CuNi claddings are not the most prestigious materials around.....

I agree. I'm not really seeing MD on it. The die crack is neat. I have a 2017 with a crack on Lincoln's forehead, but haven't found any others from change. Hold on to them if you like. I've let some coins with die cracks go back into circulation because there is no collector interest, but, then again, I've bought coins because of die cracks. It depends on what you like and what you want to collect.

The two light system is making it harder to see what you have. On light source is enough. That way you have light and shadows. With two lights, you have light and light on both sides of the coin, but no shadows. But the area above 'CA' is showing Machine Doubling. (device altered after the strike by the machine) So it is a damaged normal coin with MD.
