Here's one of my favorite designs ever used on a Canadian silver dollar. The coin was issued to mark the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mint ( RCM). I really like the way the maple leaf transitions into a flying goose Common Loon - two iconic symbols of Canadian coinage brought together on one coin! The design is the work of Jason Bouwman.

That's a fantastic looking Dollar. I think that is a Loon as Loon images are pretty common on alot of their other dollar coins.

@Rothery: Thanks for spotting the error. While writing the post. I thought I recalled the bird on the coin as being a goose (reminiscent of the 1967 silver dollar). Obviously, I recalled incorrectly! If I had re-read my own own post about a Mint medal with the same design, I wouldn't have made the mistake! Here's the medal post from nine years ago! Here's another Bald Eagle coin, this time from Tuvalu; it was issued in 2014. I don't typically buy coins from Tuvalu, but I thought the eagle's portrait on this coin was so strong and well done that I made an exception! The coin was struck by Australia's Perth Mint; the Mint's "P" mint mark can be seen at the 3 o'clock position.

From 2018, here's the silver dollar from the three-coin breast cancer awareness program issued by US Mint on behalf of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The clad half-dollar and pink gold half eagle coins from the program share the same design. A Tiger Swallowtail butterfly is seen on each side of the coin; butterflies represent hope for those afflicted.

Here's a commemorative piece from 2017. It was issued by the Royal Canadian Mint ( RCM) as part of its coin program to mark the 150th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation. It is a large-format re-creation of Alex Colville's 1967 Flying Goose design for Canada'a 1967 commemorative silver dollar.

It's a Mexican medal commemorating the 13th Livestock Competition held in 1906 in Coyoacan Mexico.

Pretty cool nss-52. I don't ever recall seeing a dog on a coin before.
