"Ding-a-ling, ding-a-ling, you called?". Circulation hit is all, damaged as lower grade coin.

To the community.
Laura, can you lay the coin down and get a close up of the chin?if not a contact mark,it could be a die chip, but the chances are it is a damage.

A die chip perhaps, but a sharper pic would help.

Contact mark. Note how the metal is rising upwards. Kind of like when you run a snow plow, the snow rises up when pushed.

If you bought a new car and brought it home and took a large hammer to the finder of the car making a huge dent in the car, would this be a factory error? Not it is damage. Would it make the car more valuable, not just the opposite, it would lower the value. Well on coins it doesn't lower the value (face value) but to a collector, it is undesirable. It is just damage. So not, there is no premium for damage on a coin. Lets say it was a coin that was a variety coin. Then the value for this would reduce the value for it. Sometimes damage will make a collectable coin drop as much as 90%. So damage does not add value to a coin.

I agree with @coop, but do note that your coin is worth more than face value due to its composition (40% silver). Don't spend it!

Also, welcome to CCF!

Plain damage. Worth 50 cents. Spender. But I can see why you would ask.
