I personally never had any luck at auctions. Your experience with the deep Pocket gentleman was always the norm for me. Congrats on you purchase.

I kinda expected he was out for blood on the first lot when he started out bidding well above a reasonable value for the coins. These barbers were the next-to-last lot and I think he overextended and was conserving cash so he could pay too much for the Morgans (final lot). It was fun anyway and I hope to hit another one sometime.

Thanks for the great report. I've also given up local estate sales primarily because the one auctioneer always salts the block with cheap junk lots that pull huge followings.

I've spent hours with my mouth inviting flies as the most common stuff sells for nuts prices.

I tried to consign but the auctioneer said they have plenty of lots already.

Yeah. I bet they do.
