Hey there! I'm a college student from Oregon, and yesterday I was watching a few videos about people opening boxes of rerolled coins to hunt for rares, and I thought it would be interesting to try it out for myself.
Today I headed down to my bank and bought a box of $25 in pennies, circulated. Once I was home, I spent two hours opening them up. I was mainly looking for wheat pennies, and I think I had some good luck!
Once all 50 rolls were opened, I ended up with 10 wheat pennies, oldest dated at 1935, youngest at 1958. I also found two Canadian pennies, and three 2009 pennies. I didn't actually realize how fun it was to open rerolled coins, and I plan to buy more soon!

Welcome...how are you going to dispose of the coins you looked through? Most CR Hunters have two banks, a pickup and a dump. Dumping at your pickup bank probably won't get you many new coin rolls and some raised eyebrows.

The coin collecting hobby does become an increasingly addictive the more you do it, so prepare to have the "coin hunting itch". Have fun hunting, and good luck!

KK I plan to dump at my bank, yeah. I was planning on asking how often they switch out boxes of coins, but now I feel like they rarely do. *** Edited by Staff to add Quote tags. [quote][/quote] Please use them in the future. ***

Quote:Well enjoy MrRabbit. Get yourself a date Whitman or Dansco Lincoln Memorial cent album and go to town. Welcome to the Forum! I just bought a Warman's Lincoln Cent album (1909-58) for specifically wheat pennies, as I want to get one from every year. My first box of pennies yielded me 6 different years, so thats a start! *** Edited by Staff to add Quote tags. [quote][/quote] Please use them in the future. ***
