It is strictly a personal decision. There is no rule saying yea or nay. When I had my LWC set it was 1909-1964. It was tailored to coincide with the 90% silver coins. I included a 1922-Plain and a 1955 DDO. But that was my choice. Do your own thing.

You should include the date, mintmark, and the denomination in your titles. Why Topic Titles are ImportantThe title of your topic is very important. Let's say you need help attributing an 1896 Morgan Dollar.... - Horrendous: Help!
- Bad: Need help with coin
- Better: Need help with Morgan Dollar
- Good: Need help with 1896 Morgan Dollar
- Awesome: Need help with V
AM on 1896 Morgan Dollar
This enables the members with expertise pertaining to your question to easily find and answer your question. The title of the topic also becomes the title of the topic's web page, which enables us to attract more collectors to the site. The more members we have, the more we learn.

You will never ever find a 22 plain in my Lincoln collection . To me it's an error and I don't collect errors .

In my dad's Whitman album from the 1940s, they have a hole for it and it's called a 1922 "Broken D."

No, just because it is an error coin. Perhaps the first major error coin in the LWC series, but an error none the less. The most PURE collection is of circulation strikes. True Circulation strikes. Coins meant to be spent. My first Dansco and early Whitmans don't have a space for it. I think a few "snobs" ( no insult intended. I just dislike calling wealthy collectors "advanced" collectors.)like to include them for bragging rights. As someone pointed out; if you include it where do you stop? I do have a dansco where every hole is an error coin; whether a DDO/R, RPM, Off metal, ect. I DO have a 22 Plain in that Dansco.

For all those who would not....
Let me ask you a question. If I sent you one, where would put it? In the hole? In a slab? In your "error" collection? Or in a safety deposit box? Mine is going in the hole.

I don't consider it necessary. It's just a coin from a worn out die. If you include it why not all the hundreds of other varieties?

Unfortunately my Whitman Albums contain slots for all the odd ball things. I have slots for the 22plain, 55 and 72 and 95 Doubled. But also there are slots for all the 82's, all the 60's and 70's. Also, all the proofs. So due to that I added all the 2009's too. 10 pages where only about 8 should do. However, if you look into it, there are lots of other weird ones that could have been added. The coin album manufacturers are the ones that try to make collectors do what they want them to do.

I would probably put it in the Dansco. A lot of it comes down to a cost issue for me. If 22 Plains were common, I'd have one in the hole. But they are not. Since I have mostly an uncirculated set, a brown coin in that slot will bug me, especially one I paid hundreds of dollars for. I'd rather put the money to better use on actual date / mintmark coins.

I see your point. But picture this: Your uncirculated set with one brown "22 plain" coin standing out from the rest. From where I sit, that would give that album some outstanding character and distinction.

Man your stirring up trouble, come on you gotta have the 22 plain with strong reverse or your set is weak like in weak D harhar. They all look the same except for the 1909 S vdb, the 22 plain, 1914 D (oh ain't that a sweet one?) and the ol 31 S. If you ain't got the 22 plain its time for moonlighting as a janitor. One month hacking will get that baby. I'm all jazzed up now...yes one must have the 1922 plain no D period.
