When you pay more than $20 for a silver dollar...they tend to be a little better! Colors are fantastic and one of the clearest obverses I have seen. Looks like a VAM 8A to me. What are your thoughts on grade and also do you think an acetone bath might take care of the black mark on the reverse? Thanks in advance as always!

The obverse is very pretty. Even though the hair above the ear looks flat, I think this is an unc New Orleans mint weakly struck coin.
But this is unc details stained due to the stain on the reverse. This is a common date unc details morgan. $20 bucks + maybe a $5 premium for the pretty obverse toning.

Won't hurt to try acetone soak but looks like that is some kind of toning that isn't going to come off. It doesn't look that bad.

A close up of the second right obverse star would help with the attribution and I doubt that acetone would touch that reverse mark but it can't hurt to try.

Here are the results after the acetone bath. Much improved, does this still detail or is she a straight grade now? On a side note, it is amazing the role lighting can make in a picture!

MS62 possibly 63. did the soak change anything on the obverse. it would be nice to see that surface for a more accurate grade as your first photo looks like it may have some scratches across the surfaces but its hard to tell how bad they are
