westcoin Pillar of the Community United States 9792 Posts	Posted 02/13/2018 12:11 am 1873 was a neat year for US coins, that particular year was made famous to collectors, partly due to composisition changes denoted by the addition of arrows, and more also by Harry X. Boosel. Harry wrote a book "1873-1873" the difference in the title, was the open and closed "3" in the typeface printed. Harry himself, had a really wild collection of 1873 coins (both US & Foreign). His book was limited to 500 copies so it's not the easiest to find, took me a solid year of searching and watching auction to get one. There is a copy in the "Dwight Manley ANA Museum" for free loan to ANA members. I think a collection of 1873 coins would be quite expensive to replicate today. He issued 6 supplements, of which, I'm pretty sure I don't have, (yet). A little more information for those interested in Harry X.
