I appreciated the help so much on the Morgan the other day that I need your expertise again!

1922 Peace dollar. Appears to have some black marking on it. I left it alone. Whats your thoughts on a grade?

What is the difference between high relief and low relief on these dollars?

Relatively new and I probably shouldn't be buying random stuff... but this one looked interesting. Had to have it.

You do not have a high relief 1922 Peace dollar. High relief means that the devices stand out more from the fields.

Yes, high relief means that the coin's struck features or devices are higher than the height of the rim. As a result, high relief coins will not stack.

There were only 10 matte proof high relief 1922 proof dollars struck. These are the rarest and most valuable Peace dollars. The highest graded example is proof 67 and sold at Ira and Larry Goldberg's in June 2014 prior to the Long Beach show for $458,250.

I paid $20.00 for this coin. Seemed like a good buy even with my limited experience.

You did just fine for $20. I would suggest a bit of reading and research if you intend to buy more Peace.

Since all of the type 2 (1921 being the only type 1 you are ever likely to encounter) are difficult to grade from photos it's a good idea to memorize the high points and as good of an estimation as you can make on the fields for disturbance.

There are so many Peace in 63 TPG holders that you can usually find those in the $40 range for the 22-25 P mm examples

I consider Peace my favorite silver dollar since a set is possible.

the lighting and focus are not the best. my first thought was that it had a dip at some point and it was in the high AU range

AU-55 is what I am thinking because of dullness-maybe a dipped coin. If its got alot of luster then MS 62. Hard to tell from photos.

Worth noting that the details are very good on the coin. The pictures do them absolutely no justice at all. Hopefully I'll stop sucking at photography and get better pics.
