I've been looking at completing my small size $2 LTN collection and have been watching ebay for auctions of these notes. There is a 28G graded PMG66 that is closing this coming Sunday that was bid earlier today at less than $40, but zoomed up to about $190 early this evening. At the same time, there is a buy it now 28G available for $139. Both of these notes are EA blocks and both are graded PMG 66 EPQ. Neither look to me like any kind of fancy or low serial number. So, am I missing something about the note up for auction? or is this just another case of uneducated ebay bidding? What do you think?

The top two bidders have a combined feedback score of 31. Maybe that has something to do with it.

To me, at auction, no more than $125 and I'd like it better at $105 There are currently 5 of these notes on ebay for a BIN price of $139 and 1 for a BIN of $138. HA sold one last week for $192, but that one was PMG66EPQ with the additional qualifier of Great Embossing. I guess someone was willing to pay for that additional qualifier. The previous four 1928G $2 LTN PMG66EPQ notes that HA sold (Nov 17, May 17 & 2 in Feb 17) went for $104, $104, $109 and $109. Trusted Traditions, the seller on ebay, has to be really pleased that the current bid is at $189.59 (w/ S&H) with 5 days to go in the auction

That's a fair analysis, BD, but when it comes to ebay, sometimes all logic is out. If any of the BIN's have a Best Offer, that's always a possibility. But even that may not work. Yesterday, I offered a seller $85 on BO for an item he had at $90 BIN. Slam-dunk, no? No. He countered with an $88 offer. Had me laughing so much I forgot to buy. BTW, if you didn't know, there's a big currency auction on HA around May 1st. You should find top graded everything there (maybe top prices, too).

Either I don't understand BO pricing (doubtful ) or there are some ebay sellers out there that don't understand BO pricing (more likely ) To me, if you're not willing to accept at least 5% less than your BIN price, then why even bother with BO. To each their own I guess

I once gave a seller an offer of $50 on an item that was $59 and they countered with an offer of $58.75.

No one said you'd be dealing with pros! I've actually done well on ebay over the years. Best thing is to find someone who's trying to build a business by selling his collection, or even better, someone who just plain needs the money.

Yes, that would be good, if we can trust someone if they say that. I like dealing with other collectors, for the most part. They know what's fair and what isn't. Worst is when it's someone liquidating for someone else and doesn't even bother to look the stuff up, just posts crazy high prices.
