Hello everyone,
Long story short, I am just wondering if this 1890 is worthy of a MS grade or not. My real concern would be that it has been cleaned and/or polished.

Any opinions appreciated!

It's cleaned and AU-58. Even if it was uncleaned and MS, the best it would make is 62.

This one doesn't have the surface issues of the 1903. It looks ms62-63 with even surfaces. nice strike. luster looks a little light. some of the obverse pics look like the obverse was wiped. I would say borderline choice bu. definitely better than the 1903.

Yes I believe that's a die crack over the date. There is also much doubling as well. I assumed this was "Longacre Doubling" and just a "run-of-the-mill" late die strike with a crack

I am returning this coin, thank you all for your help and feedback!

You have bought some cleaned retoned coins. You're paying your dues right now, you'll learn. Can you post a listing the seller has ? I would love to look at his other listings.

Also most sellers won't allow a return after the coins are removed from their 2x2's , you got lucky.

Return it as fast as possible. I recommend that you don't buy from that seller - looks like they are good at taking pictures that make their coins look much better than they really do. The coin looks cleaned and recolored.

I'd rather not post the guy's name/listings here on ebay.. however, if you are curious..

a quick ebay search for "indian head gem bu" should get you very very close. Just look at the very first 2 pics in this post and look for similar pics on ebay.

All three are cleaned/polished/dipped. Learning experience for you. Don't assume that a seller's coins are problem free just because they have a bunch of feedback. As a better way to learn, why not spend money on common AU-MS PCGS/NGC/ANACS graded cents instead of trying to get raw ones slabbed? Then you'll have a reference point.
