I thInk the hard case is deeper on the front side and apparently iPhone cameras are terrible for photos

That looks like a nice coin.
Take a run through the photography section of CCF, and see what they can offer in terms of tips for the iPhone.
Chances are they can help you create sharp dazzling photos.
(Well... They helped me a lot and that's sort of a miracle.)

Better images would surely help and a picture of the lettering if it is a GSA Morgan.
