Looks like a chip or gouge to me, too (I really do not know how the difference between "chip" and "gouge" is defined). There are some DDOs for the year with a bar under the L, which is what caught my attention. This looks to me to be a little too far south, though to be DDO.

Photos like this can be deceptive - a bit difficult to see whether the feature is raised or incuse.

Thanks for looking. I usually appreciate another perspective.

Anytime Pete. The gouge is larger than the chip, I think it has to be 4 sq millimeter. It looks raised to me and plenty south.

I have seen the 4 sq mm used with a definition of internal die breaks (as distinguished from Cuds), but never with regard to chips vs gouges. Do you happen to have a link?

I don't have the link, I've heard it on here a few times. I'm pretty sure it's correct. Glad you like my E-file. You and anyone else on here are welcome to use any of my E-files anytime, but use them only on CCF.

The black thread is also an error. A struck through error. Did you note the creases through the 'IN'? That was there when the coin was struck. (don't remove it) This is the only item I see on your coin that would be a modest premium.

Thanks coop. I assume that you are using "black thread" literally?

I appreciate your noticing. I included that photo hoping someone would see it an comment.

Correct. Every once in a while the hang on for the long haul:

This one was in a BU OBW roll. I wondered why it looked so bad, then noticed the reason. You can see the impression marks by the fiber that was still attached.

Thank you! THANK YOU! It is seldom that I find any Variety or Error at all! This makes my day!
