Popped Zinc Zit, no kidding, zinc has corroded under the copper plating causing gas bubbles. Contact has "popped" the zit and released the corroded zinc and copper.

Probably the plating was split with a straight pin, and the crater developed from there. Coin damage. The ouside edge of the hole made it raise in that area.
