I've been looking for this note for a long time, but couldn't really handle 65 money and didn't like the centering issues on lower grade MS TPG notes. I finally found this last week with the important PQ paper designation, which I've learned is tough to find on graded notes of this series for some reason - confirmed by a review of Heritage archives. It's not MS (though no flaws visible), but short of gem new, the centering and eye appeal are all there.

I like the clean design of this note (Series 1891), with its simple oval center portrait - it's a precursor of the gradual shift to this standard that started with the Series 1905-1907 Gold Certificates.

Nice, they sure did make artistic bills, too bad that art has been lost.

Wowser Mr.Frog.

You're crushing it recently. The AU notes with the Q are really the smart way to buy large size type notes. All the beauty and eye appeal of the UNC's without the price tag.

Nice bright note! Windom has that real banker look. And, I like the asymmetrical back.

The design of the coin notes of 1891 seemed pretty basic, too.

Thanks guys, appreciate the thoughts. The pop on this issue is much less than that of its replacement, the Series 1896 Educational $2 (Science Presenting Steam and Electricity), which was probably saved in greater numbers because of its striking design. Nonetheless, the Educational still sells for more money grade for grade.
