Here's a selection of coins found in local shops. While these coins may be uneventful for Australians, Although these all are pretty common, found it takes quite a bit of work to find decent older coins here--most are simply worn away to below G. I'm particularly fond of the Emu/Roo reverse. I found these from $0.75-$2 apiece, so I guess careful searching pays off? In various grades, not the best photo but I have a cold today and I'm lazy! Thanks Nancy, that's so helpful of you! I'll get a Macca's soon...very good for me to have the source here. And yes--I'm quite happy now, and I think I'll return to that shop soon! Still searching for those elusive 1915 coins!

I love those old Florins, The ones that say Two Shillings, the earlier ones. They are my favourite pre-decs.
I bought one from the coin dealer in town, the cheapest year of them. Wish mine were that old!

Here's a few more I found yesterday. Pretty worn, but I only paid silver value. I've cleaned this shop out--time to find another!

G'day, anything with "1910" is worth picking up. You can hold it until you find a better one. If you're only paying melt value, that's very cheap collecting ... and probably very good investing, too. Peter

You've done very well at that shop Kurt. I hope you find another one that is as good for Aussie coins. As Peter said with the 1910, any for that year are worth picking up & all 3 coins are 92.5% silver.

Nancy, thanks for the info! I guess I'm pretty lucky to find these old coins in California.
