I usually see this alot on nickels from the 80s but never this bad. I cant remember what you call this error.

No this aint acid this has to do with the pressure when the coin is pressed. You see it alot on nickels from 1981-1985. This is the worse Ive seen so far though. (Defective die) thats what the error is called.

You are thinking of the effects of what is called Die Deterioration...but, graceoutcast is right. The nickel was damaged in an acid bath. This is no error, just damage.
